On the Calendar: District Sample Sale
If you've never been to the District Sample Sale, you are missing out! The DC area's best boutiques gather in one place - near Cady's Alley in Georgetown - and sell amazing clothes at even more amazing prices. And best of all, it's all for a great cause.
Held twice a year, each Sample Sale benefits a different local charity. The proceeds from this fall's DSS - which will take place on September 16 - will go to the GW Mammovan.
Boutiques like DC's Urban Chic, Sassanova and Proper Topper join shops from a little farther away - including Alexandria's Hysteria and Rockville's Emily Grace. Past seasons stuff will go for nearly 80 percent off, and new season stuff is discounted 15 to 30 percent off. Things I've bought at past Sample Sales include: super discounted DVF dresses and heels, crazy cheap Anlo jeans and Tory Burch tops. They also have an amazing silent auction, of which you should definitely take advantage.
So get there early, shop a while, enjoy the open bar with specialty cocktails (champagne is a perennial hit), hors d'oeuvres and Georgetown Cupcakes, and keep your eyes peeled for DSS founder and Real Housewives of DC star Mary Amons. Buy your tickets for this can't-miss event today! Hope to see you there.
