Weekend: Bloody Mary Bowls and Croquet

Croquet on the National Mall, bowl of Bloodies at Lincoln, and an adorable beagle!

This weekend was too much fun. I've been filling up my plate socially, as well as work and general life stuff. Between beginning to pack for our move, wedding planning, a busy schedule at work and maintaining my other commitments (like Junior League, friendships, etc.) - I'm just swamped! But it's actually been really fun - though I haven't been cleaning or hitting the yoga studio as much as I'd like!

This weekend, I got to try hurricanes at TruOrleans (just OK, but I am giving them another chance tonight), eat brunch at my DC favorite, Vinoteca, and Lincoln (where we tried the $32 64-ounce punch bowl of bloody marys - AWESOME), play croquet on the National Mall (in the perfect, shady, not-too-hot spot - my fiance and I won one of the games!), and hang out with not one but two awesome beagles - all in the company of awesome friends.

Not sure if life could be better.

TBONTB: Globe-Trotter Trolley Case

Now that my Bachelorette weekend is booked, I think I need some fabulous luggage. I love the old school glamour of this Globe-Trotter® Centenary 21" trolley case (available at J. Crew for $1350). But it's been updated and ergonomically corrected. No one looks like a glam jetsetter when they are lugging heavy luggage all over the airport. It must roll.

Plus the bright color means you'll be able to pick your luggage out easily in a sea of black.

Sadly, it's not in my price range. But I can still admire...

Saturday Style: Pre-Fourth Fun

It's not quite the Fourth of July yet, but it sure feels like it. The air is hot and sticky, and patriotism abounds in our nation's capital. I'm channeling breezy casual to stay comfortable and cool - comfort is key on weekends where you know you'll be outside a lot and walking a lot. I like the splash of blue. It's like, hey America, it's almost your birthday, but not quite yet.

Barbeques await! Hope your weekend is off to a great start.

Sit back and relax

Alexander Wang

Sometimes, you just need to let loose, and what better time do so than the weekends. On weekends, I love to wear skinny jeans and long tunic-y tees, or leggings, flat boots and grandpa cardigans - outfits I don't need to think too hard about.. During the work week, we are buttoned-up, straight edge and clean cut. But over the weekends, we can become unbridled, dressing for the sake of comfort and ease.

These looks from New York Fashion Week retain a modicum of high fashion while allowing for effortless comfort. From comfy slouchy pants to throw-on dresses, and from casual coats to flowy maxis, designers showed us comfort and chicness are not mutually exclusive.
